What is SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer?

SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer adds cool content to your Internet Explorer browser by placing a new toolbar for FREE. You can add your favorite icons and emoticons to any web based application including web based email (such as Hotmail/Live, Yahoo mail, Gmail etc), Social Networks (such as MySpace, Live Spaces, etc), forums, blogs and more.



Inserting an item into an email message:
Simply sign in to your web email, and select any of the icons or smileys from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. The selected item will be inserted and visible to your friends, without them needing to download SweetIM.

Inserting an item into a social network page:
Simply sign in to your social network, and select any of the icons or smileys from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. Then click on the "Copy Code" button to copy the html code of the item.

You'll then be able to paste the code of that item into your social network page. The selected item will be inserted and visible to your friends, without them needing to download SweetIM.

If you run into this dialog box:

Click on the "Allow access" button.

Using Search from the toolbar


Search the web directly from your Internet Explorer browser, with our powerful search engine indexing over 2 billion web pages. Just type your query in the new search box, on the left side of the SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer and click Enter or the Search button.



Searching other Search Engines from the toolbar


You can also access other powerful search engines including Yahoo!, Google and Bing, by placing a query in the search box and selecting any one of them from the pull down menu, available when clicking the arrow attached to the Search button.



Highlighting searched text


By clicking on the "Marker" button image on the toolbar you will receive your search results with the searched query term highlighted in the results page.



Clicking it again, will return your results without the terms highlighted.

How do I install SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer?

SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer is installed automatically when you install SweetIM. It will work even if you don’t have Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, AIM or ICQ Messenger installed.

How do I uninstall SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer?

You can hide the SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer by clicking the right button when placing the cursor on the toolbar, and then selecting SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer. If you still want to uninstall SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer –
  • For Windows 2000 / XP users - go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Control Panel". On your control panel, select "Add or Remove Programs". Select "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer" from the list of currently installed programs. Click "Remove" and follow the instructions.
  • For Vista users - go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Control Panel". On your control panel, select "Programs and Features". Select "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer" from the list of currently installed programs. Click "Uninstall" and follow the instructions.

Does the SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer track web surfing?

How do I clear my search history from SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer?


You can clear the drop search text box on SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer by first clicking on the SweetIM logo on the left of the SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer, and then selecting in the menu Clear Search History. This will erase all your previous search terms from the drop search text box.

Menu items


Clicking on the SweetIM logo on the left side of the toolbar will open a pull down menu with the following items:



SweetIM Home – will open a browser with the SweetIM homepage.
SweetIM Search – will open a browser with the SweetIM Search homepage.
SweetIM Forum – will open a browser with the SweetIM forums, where you can discuss SweetIM related issues with other users.

Clear Search History – erases your previous Search terms from your browser.

Help → Help – will open a browser with help about SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer page (this page).
Help → About – shows your version of SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer.
Help → Uninstall – opens a browser with instructions how to uninstall the SweetIM for Internet Explorer.

Contact Us – will open SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer contact us page, which you can fill out and help us to make SweetIM better.

Privacy Information – will open our Privacy policy page.

Options – will open a settings box for your SweetIM toolbar.

Troubleshooting


Problems with web email and other web applications

If you are having problems inserting SweetIM emoticons and graphics into Emails, Blogs and Forums, make sure that "Rich Text Editor" or "Color and Graphics" settings have been selected. In web based emails, you must be in Compose, Reply or Forward message. For more help on this issue click here.

Can’t find SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer on the browser, how do I make it appear?

Please make sure that you have installed it correctly by checking if it is listed as "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer" in the Add/Remove Programs menu, in the control panel. If it is not listed please install it again from our site.

You can re-enable SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer by going to "View" → "Toolbars" and selecting "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer".

For Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0 users, check that in "Tools" → "Internet Options" → "Advanced" → that "Enable third party browser extensions" is selected.

SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer may have been pushed out of the screen by another toolbar. Click "View" tab, select the category "Toolbars" and then un-check the option "Lock the Toolbars". To move SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer, place your cursor on the left edge of the bar and drag it to a new location.

If you see two arrows >> on the far right of the address bar, click on them to make the SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer appear. See instructions above how to move the toolbar into view.

Reinstall SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer by first uninstalling it from "Control Panel" → "Add/Remove programs". Then restart your computer and Install it by clicking here

I'm having trouble uninstalling the Toolbar.


Users must be logged in as an administrator to uninstall SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer.
  • For Windows 2000 / XP users - go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Control Panel". On your control panel, select "Add or Remove Programs". Select "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer" from the list of currently installed programs. Click "Remove" and follow the instructions.
  • For Vista users - go to "Start" → "Settings" → "Control Panel". On your control panel, select "Programs and Features". Select "SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer" from the list of currently installed programs. Click "Uninstall" and follow the instructions.

Where did my address bar go?


SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer or some other toolbar may have been placed over the address bar or may have pushed it out of the screen. Click "View" tab, select the category "Toolbars" and then un-check the option "Lock the Toolbars". Then move SweetIM Toolbar for Internet Explorer to the bottom or left of the address bar, by placing your cursor on the left edge of the bar and dragging it to a new location. Then right-click on an open area of a toolbar and select "Lock the Toolbars" so that your new arrangement does not change.
